The Official Vehicle Of GunnisonCounty.netThere it is! It's my 1993 mauve Honda Accord. I wanted to pay tribute to this special car of mine, the official vehicle that I get around in Gunnison County. Without it, you would not see all the beautiful photos that are on this web site. Above is a photo I took on Memorial Day weekend at Taylor Park Reservoir (2006). I was looking back to the west towards the Continental Divide and included my car in the foreground. At the time, I thought it was a useless photo, for I usually try to place stellar Rocky Mountain scenery photos up here, but over time the photo "grew on me" a bit. I knew I could not allow this photo to sit any longer on my desktop without taking action. Okay, maybe it is just a car, but most of my cars have had a sentimental value to me. I bought my Honda from a married couple who had a third and extra vehicle. They gave me a good deal on it, which already had 190K miles but had been meticulously taken care of. Since acquiring it, I have continued to take care of it as best as I can and I do not delay fixing or replacing things as they are recommended. My former car was a 1991 Honda CRX and it busted at 230K miles when I failed to change the timing belt at its scheduled time, but that is a sad story that I do not want to elaborate about right now. So let me close with this tribute to my Honda. It ran perfectly as I arrived in Marble (via Independence Pass through Carbondale), it has taken a beating occasionally on bumpy conditions on Cottonwood Pass Road, and it has been reliable for all of my trips to Gunnison and destinations beyond on Highway 50 west. May I treat Gunnison County as well as this car has taken care of me! :) All the best,
